12th Doctor Series 10 Cosplays

After having two radically different styles across the previous two series, series 10 combined the 2 into much more smart-casual hybrids. A lot more custom pieces were also made for this series, meaning not every variant can be completed screen accurate.

Costume Breakdown

The Pilot: Variant 1

Coat:

An entirely different style of coat was introduced in series 10; a 4/4 length black velvet frock coat. Therefore it has princess seams on the back, no outside pockets and peaked lapels  New buttons with a blue swirl design and the new blue coloured lining was used.

Hoodie: All Saints, Mode Merino

This entirely puce coloured hoodie is 100% merino wool, as are a lot of this Doctor’s clothes, and incredibly thin (basically see-through). The hoodie had the drawstring removed by the costume designer; Haley Neubauer.

Jumper:

A custom black jumper with distressing in the form of ladders (similar to the Topman jumper), holes and cut cuffs (similar to the Paul Smith jumper).

Top:

Pink long sleeved with suede binding at the collar and cuffs.

Trousers: Paul Smith

A pair of slim fit, dark navy trousers with cuffs that were added by the Costume Designer; Ray Holman.

Belt: Marks & Spencer

Thin Ice: Variant 2

Coat:

Waistcoat:

A custom navy embroidered waistcoat with lapels, which are worn turned up. It has a flat bottom with 7 buttons (the first to which is not done up) and 2 front pockets.

Shirt:

A white period shirt with the collar worn upwards.

Scarf:

A custom black scarf with silver embroidery.

Trousers:

Custom black wool trousers with no zipper or button fastening on the front but there are buttons on the cuffs.

Knock Knock:

Coat: Chris Kerr

A subtler 3/4 length black velvet crombie built in the same style as the previous coat and with the same material and buttons. There is new plum coloured lining and the loss of the red cuff buttons (returning to a full set of black).

Jumper: Paul Smith

A black merino wool jumper with a discreet repeating pattern of holes and a cut collar and cuffs, all of which have been sewn to prevent fraying.

Top: H&M

In order for the holes to be visible a white long-sleeved top is worn under the jumper. It has a low-cut neckline, so it isn’t visible with the cut collar on the jumper.

The series 9 navy wool Crombie was made from 100% camelhair with plain red lining. It still features 3 front buttons and 5 cuff buttons, although the first 2 are worn undone and the 3rd is a red button (one matte and one glossy added by the costume designer). The lapels are also much lower down this time around.

It is somewhat of a hybrid between a frock coat and a Crombie, with princess seams on the back and no outside pockets but notch lapels. Unlike the previous coats, there is no coloured lining on the inside, it is plain black, and there are only 3 cuff buttons.

A white shirt made from Soyella cotton, featuring French cuffs and an extended collar, that is worn without cufflinks. This was distressed and had the top button changed by the costume designer; Hayleigh Neubar.

Trousers: Paul Smith, Chino-style

A pair of slim fit, black (dyed from dark navy) trousers with cuffs that were added by the Costume Designer; Ray Holman.

Shoes: Doc Marten, Affleck

A black boot with a slightly different brogue design and base than the loake. These also have a toggle at the back.
